Tough Shot: Chapter 7
Chapt. 7
“Great. Now you have to beat him again.” Mikeal said, upsettingly. Right after Peterson left.
“So? What’s so bad about that?” I asked, confused.
“Because it’s a waste of time, we could be doing more fun things at the time!” Mikeal yelled, like I just said I’m a buffalo.
“Hey, at least we get a team of three, so you, me, and James.”
“True, but still, who is Peterson going to pick?”
“Probably Luke and Cam, his other partners of crime.” James said, in a matter of factly tone.
“More like gang friends,” Mikeal laughed awkwardly. Nobody laughed or smiled. “Oh, come on! Why does nobody think I’m funny, that was funny, I am funny!”
“Okay, okay, sheesh, ha ha, hoo hoo, hee hee, real funny of you,” I said, imitating a goofy laugh. Mikeal looked at me, not amused.
“Are you okay?” Mikeal asked.
“Yes, but-”
“Anyway,” James said, interfering with me and Mikeal’s war, “Do you want to continue playing FIFA?”
I stared at Mikeal for a few seconds and slowly said, “Suuurrrrrrre,”
After that weird conversation, me and my friends walked up to my room and plopped down onto my bed.
I played Real Madrid with James, and Mikeal played for Liverpool. We won 4-1.
“Oh, come on!” Mikeal yelled frustrated at the loss, “Liverpool is supposed to be good, not play like dead slugs! What’s wrong with them!” Mikeal yelled, angry because Liverpool was playing slow.
“Well maybe play a better team, like, I don’t know; Barcelona, even though they’re my enemy.” I said, saying the team name in a bitter tone.
“Hey, wait!” Mikeal yelled suddenly, “You still haven’t asked Kalie out, do you have memory loss?”
I was stunned that he actually remembered that, “Uuuuuuuuh, no, but still, do I have too?” I asked in a strained voice.
“Yes! I’ve told you this before; it only makes sense for you to ask her out because you like her,” Mikeal asked in an obvious kind of way, “Unless she likes you too!”
“Uuuuh! Why do I have to-” Mikeal then stopped me mid sentence.
“Look! Look!” He was yelling and looking out the window like a baby saw a puppy, “Look! It’s Kalie! Kai, it’s time!” As soon as Mikeal said ‘Kalie’, a weird feeling left me scared and flustered.
“W-wait, what?” I walked over there by the window to see out, and sure enough, it was Kalie, “Oh, no, you can’t make me do this, no way!” But my voice was drowned by Mikeal shoving me out of my room into the hallway. Mikeal then ordered me to start walking.
“Get moving you, Babbling Butt Head Baboon!”
“What?!!” I yelled questioning the stupidest words that ever came out of Mikeal’s mouth.
“You’re a chicken! Hurry up before she leaves! Did you know ‘Kai’ means dumb wimp! Now move!” Mikeal said, forcing me down the stairs.
“Actually, it means ‘Warrior’ not what you said.” I said in a matter of factly tone. But Mikeal didn’t want to hear it, so he opened the door and shoved me outside into the blinding light. He then slammed the door behind me leaving me alone with Kalie.
Kalie was still there, and then looked around to see what the commotion was. All she saw was me, frozen in shock of how I’m here and the strength of Mikeal when he’s hyped.
“Uhh..” I said stupidly.
“Oh, uh, hi Kai,” Kalie said in her sweet voice, “I didn’t know you lived here.” She looked up, and down at the house.
“Uh, yeah, I, uh, do, heh,”
Why am I stuttering so much!!
“So, um, I, uh, wanted to, uh, ask you, um, something,” I said, scratching the back of my neck.
“Uh, yeah, sure.” She said, turning to face me. I couldn’t believe how gorgeous she looked; the way her golden blond hair sparkles in the sunlight, and how her face is perfect.
Oh no! I thought, I forgot! I have this thick red mark down my face!
“Uh… please don’t mind the red mark on my face,” I said, flinching.
“Oh, yeah, of course, so what were you going to ask?”
Suddenly I was stuck on the spot, it felt like my heart was sinking in a lake of embarrassment, “So, uh, would you, um, like to, he, go out with me, um, sometime?” I said blushing intensely. She suddenly started blushing a lot, or as Mikeal would say, ‘she looks like a ripe tomato, because she’s ripe, or shall I say, ripe for the taking.’
“Uh, yeah, um, sure. That would be, um, nice, heh,” She said, fumbling over her own words. She then waved bye to me and trotted away.
I then slowly walked back to my house fumbling over my own feet a few times. Mikeal then opened the door and forced me to tell what happened and if she said yes. All I said was, “I guess I’m going out on a date sometime. Let’s go play some more FIFA.”
